Technician

Job Description

•Provide support and assist the Chief Engineer in meeting the strategic goals of the department.
•Attend to repair and maintenance of all systems and related equipment of a minor nature and ensure that all are kept in good working condition.
•Responsible for carrying out requests with regards to repairs in guestrooms, public areas and back of house facilities.
•Responsible for replacing and fixing all faulty fixtures and fittings within the Hotel as per daily checklist. 
•Present all guest rooms and public areas back to Housekeeping and Front Office in a pristine condition, ensuring that all materials and tools are cleared prior to leaving the worksite.
•Carry out regular inspections of plant and equipment as per the daily checklist.
•Carry out regular preventive maintenance inspections.
•Clear all storm water drainage including building gutters to ensure blockages do not occur.
•Perform and assist with the Fire Protection Preventive Maintenance Program, ensuring that all items are inspected as per weekly schedule.
•Review daily logbook, rectify or follow up on all items left unsolved from any previous shifts in relation to general repairs and discuss with the Engineering managers.
•Perform cleaning and tidying of all Hotel engineering related areas including plant rooms, electrical, information systems and plumbing riser shafts, storerooms and engineering workshops.
•Ensure proper records are kept relating to all plant and equipment for the hotel.
•Ensure proper measures are taken to protect the environment and the Hotel’s adherence to it.
•Maintain all workshop tools and equipment in good working condition.
•Ensure sufficient stock for the necessary tools, materials and parts required for operating use. Raise purchase orders as and when required.
•Attend any hotel and Engineering specific meetings and briefings as required.
•Participates as a pro-active team member in the Hotel’s Energy conservation program by making appropriate recommendations to Engineering managers on energy conservation improvements.
•Ensure Fire and Engineering safety features and be thoroughly familiar with the Hotel’s emergency procedures and perform assigned duties as per the Hotel’s Emergency Response Plan.
•Ensure compliance with legislated workplace health and safety requirements.

•Comply and ensure adherence to all the policies and procedures in the Engineering Department and the Hotel’s general policies.
•Ensure that all requests for repair and maintenance are carried out within an acceptable time frame.
•Be familiar and operate the Hotel’s Building Automation system.
•Perform equipment repairs as per manufactures recommendations.
•Perform all other assigned tasks pertaining to the Hotel’s Engineering Department and as set by your supervisors / managers.

Job Requirements

•Nitec in Facilities Management or Secondary Education with at least 1 year experience in a similar job role
•Attentive to details and quality 
•Possess good interpersonal and communication skills
•Able to work on rotating shifts, public holidays and weekends
